Helmet Care

Clean the outside of your helmet with mild soap and warm water. Use a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently to remove dirt, bugs, dust, and road grime.

Do not use solvents, harsh chemicals, fuel, alcohol, glass cleaner, degreasers, abrasive polish, or strong household cleaners. These can damage paint, coatings, graphics, plastics, trim, adhesives, or shield components.

For stuck-on bugs or grime, place a warm damp cloth over the area for several minutes to soften the debris before wiping. Do not scrape the helmet with hard tools.

Standard face shields may be cleaned with mild soap, warm water, and a soft microfiber cloth. Rinse gently and dry with a clean soft cloth.

Do not use chemical cleaners, alcohol, Windex, solvents, abrasive towels, paper towels, or rough cloths. Shields can scratch, haze, discolor, or lose coating performance if cleaned improperly.

Always handle shields carefully during removal, installation, and cleaning. Avoid placing shields face-down on hard surfaces.

Photochromic shields must be cleaned with clean water only and a clean soft microfiber cloth. Do not use soap, alcohol, Windex, glass cleaner, solvents, chemical sprays, polish, or any other cleaning product.

Do not scrub the shield with paper towels, rough rags, abrasive towels, or polishing materials. These can scratch, haze, discolor, or damage the photochromic coating.

Avoid storing photochromic shields in direct sunlight, extreme heat, or chemical exposure when not riding. Photochromic performance can naturally vary based on UV exposure, temperature, windshield coverage, weather, use, and aging.

Use of cleaners, chemicals, soaps, solvents, abrasives, or improper storage may reduce performance and may be considered improper care rather than a manufacturing defect.

Anti-fog inserts should be handled carefully and cleaned only when necessary. Use water and a very soft cloth. Let the insert air dry naturally before reinstalling.

Do not scrub the anti-fog insert, use alcohol, solvents, glass cleaner, abrasive towels, or chemical cleaners. Anti-fog coatings can be damaged by improper cleaning.

When installing or removing an anti-fog insert, avoid bending it excessively and make sure it seats properly against the shield.

Removable liners and cheek pads should be cleaned gently by hand. Use mild soap and cool or lukewarm water, then rinse thoroughly.

Let interior parts air dry completely before reinstalling. Do not use a dryer, direct heat, hair dryer, heater, or direct sunlight to speed up drying.

Do not use bleach, fabric softener, harsh detergents, solvents, or chemical cleaners on liners or padding. Make sure all interior pieces are fully seated before riding.

For leather-covered helmets, use a basic leather conditioner suitable for finished leather surfaces. Apply lightly and follow the conditioner manufacturer’s instructions.

Do not oversaturate the leather. Avoid harsh cleaners, solvents, alcohol, bleach, degreasers, or abrasive scrubbing.

Store leather-covered helmets away from extreme heat, direct sunlight storage, excessive moisture, and chemical exposure.

Periodically inspect vents, shield hardware, hinge covers, screws, spoilers, modular mechanisms, and moving parts for looseness, damage, or debris.

Remove dirt or dust gently with a soft cloth. Do not force moving components or overtighten screws.

If hardware is missing, stripped, damaged, or not functioning properly, stop using the affected feature and contact Daytona Helmets support for assistance.

Avoid soaking or spraying water directly into Bluetooth units, speakers, microphones, cameras, charging ports, wiring, or electronic accessories.

Wipe electronics gently with a dry or lightly damp soft cloth when needed. Make sure electronic components are fully dry before charging or use.

Do not use solvents, alcohol, pressure washers, compressed air, or chemical cleaners around electronics.

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight storage, extreme heat, fuel, exhaust fumes, solvents, chemicals, and sharp objects.

Use the helmet dust bag when storing or transporting the helmet. Avoid hanging the helmet from mirrors, handlebars, or sharp hooks that could damage the liner, EPS, strap, or shell.

Do not leave the helmet where it can fall, roll, be crushed, or be exposed to high heat inside a vehicle for extended periods.

A helmet is designed to help manage impact energy. After a serious blow, accident, crash, or hard drop, the helmet may be compromised even if damage is not obvious.

Stop using the helmet immediately. Contact Daytona Helmets, destroy the helmet, or replace it before riding again.

Do not continue riding with a helmet that has visible cracks, crushed EPS, loose retention parts, broken shield hardware, damaged modular components, or any suspected structural damage.

Do not use the following on helmets, shields, liners, or accessories unless Daytona Helmets specifically states otherwise:

• Alcohol-based cleaners;
• Windex or household glass cleaners;
• Solvents, gasoline, fuel, acetone, or brake cleaner;
• Degreasers or harsh chemical sprays;
• Abrasive polish or rubbing compound;
• Bleach or strong detergents;
• Paper towels, rough rags, scouring pads, or abrasive cloths;
• Pressure washers or high-pressure air around vents, seals, or electronics.

For photochromic shields specifically, use water only. No soap, cleaners, sprays, or chemicals should be used.

Contact Daytona Helmets support if you notice damage, missing parts, unusual movement, shield issues, stripped hardware, damaged vents, cracked components, liner concerns, or suspected manufacturing defects.
